“For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him”. Matthew 13:12 NKJV
The history of the Bible is one wonder many generations before us and even after us will never be able to fully unravel. The holy Bible was written by many authors who most definitely did not live in the same generation, except for a major part of the New Testament. The writers of the Bible never knew there would be any arrangement of their works into such a matchless form and order that the Bible commands in history and today. All they did was to be faithful in documenting their stories and experiences about God and His dealings with them. Imagine Moses, after receiving divine revelation about what transpired in the garden of Eden and the details of the history of the founding fathers of Israel, now decided to keep all the information to himself or just narrate the revelations to those around him without paying attention to proper documentation of the information? We would be in darkness today about all the truths his words brought to us!
In this series on journaling your spiritual journey, we shall be discussing the need for journaling, how to go about it and what we stand to gain by taking up this responsibility. It is about to get very memorable as we unravel these truths together. Get ready for the fire experience!

“Those who retain what God gives them will be given more!” – Pastor Bob Sorge
In every generation of believers, there are biblical truths that most believers will always receive instructions about and be commanded to live by, not because these truths are special in every sense but because they form the basic foundation for a lasting spiritual journey as we walk through this world. One of such biblical truth is the subject of starting and sustaining a personal relationship with God. This is most definitely the beginning of the spiritual journey of believers, especially amongst Pentecostals and charismatic assemblies. However, there has been a decline in the effectiveness of this ancient pattern of seeking to know God for who He is. The reason for this is not that men have entirely stopped seeking God but that there is a massive reduction in the percentage of believers that documents and journal their journey with God.

Immediately after spending precious moments with the Lord, there is a need to settle down to relive these experiences in a notepad, a journal or any other means of documentation.
More than ever before in history, our generation is known to be in a rush to get through almost everything we lay our hands to do. Unfortunately, this hastiness of our generation is one of the biggest hindrances to getting the best out of our relationship with God. We are always quick to forget that God is not man, He cannot be bribed and cajoled with the dramas we put out whenever we are in His Presence. We call Him bogus names and use many deep illustrations that we have never experienced personally to praise His Name and then few minutes after, we spend some minutes scanning through His word and we are off! No regard for His Presence, no regard to carefully write down the details of His whispers to us for that day. Now, when we continually live like this for years, the result will be that we have a form of godliness (a sense of belief that we have a relationship with God) but we will definitely lack the power thereof (the Presence and Glory of God being expressed in all that we do).

Enjoying the Presence of God and swimming in the oceans of divine revelation when studying the word of God without documenting these experiences, is nothing but a memory and short termed access card!
Pastor Bob Sorge once wrote the following words: “Those who retain what God gives them will be given more!” These words here exemplified one major reason we must cultivate the habit of journaling our experiences with God. Enjoying the Presence of God and swimming in the oceans of divine revelation when studying the word of God without documenting these experiences, is nothing but a memory and short termed access card! What makes that revelation of God you received useful for you later is the art of journaling. Immediately after spending precious moments with the Lord, there is a need to settle down to relive these experiences in a notepad, a journal or any other means of documentation.

Constantly documenting your daily walk with the Lord will empower you to count your blessings one by one and fill your heart with gratitude and trust in God knowing that His Hand is surely upon your life, whether it feels like it or not!
More often than not, this is not for the purpose of public usage but for your own spiritual development in the coming days. Days of ceaseless flow of divine revelation and the awestruck feeling of His Presence will not always come at your beck and call. It is the documentation of such glorious experiences that will make you stand in the days of not-so-dramatic moments with the Lord in the secret place. Constantly documenting your daily walk with the Lord will empower you to count your blessings one by one and fill your heart with gratitude and trust in God knowing that His Hand is surely upon your life, whether it feels like it or not! This is not just a good thing to do, it is the right thing to do!

Every moment with the Lord is priceless and until you see it that way, becoming a faithful steward of such moment will be far from you.
Conclusively, there are a lot of passionate believers that naturally believe that their memory is sharp enough to capture the details of God’s words to them in the secret place. Especially if you have journeyed to the place of hearing from God consistently, there is a definite need to document what God is telling you today; not doing so is a risk that you might never recover from. It is true that most committed believers that are known to document their journey with God learnt it by painful experiences in their quest of knowing God. You don’t have to walk through life that way. Your case can be smoother by learning to obey this instruction to journal your moments with the Lord.
