You are very welcome to the second episode of our series on “The Lord, my Guide”. In the first episode, we looked at how crucial it is to be guided by God and make Him King over your life. In this episode, we shall dive into the instruments of divine guidance and how you can live a life of purpose, as a believer. Get ready for the fire experience!

If you will matter tomorrow, God will begin to introduce to you what will happen tomorrow from today.
Reading through the bible well, you would realize that any man that was helped by God was one who received instructions. Men who also did great and mighty things for God in the Bible received instructions. In this kingdom, we rise by instruction. If you will matter tomorrow, God will begin to introduce to you what will happen tomorrow from today.
What you are doing today, is what will make you stand out tomorrow. The instructions God is giving you now is what will make your tomorrow a glorious one. Today, we are listening to some of God’s generals because they paid the price a long time ago. If you’re not paying any price today, or if God is not giving you any instructions now, it is proof that you won’t matter in His move tomorrow. One of my fathers said something, and I quote by paraphrasing: “When you are doing evil, and God is making it work out, be sure that God is no longer with you.” It is very possible that while you are alive, someone else is living your purpose because God has taken it from you.

God can lead us anywhere, at any time, and at any point, but where it happens primarily is in the place of prayer.
Notable prophets in the Bible existed because of divine guidance, and one way to know you are a prophet is through divine guidance because prophets speak through divine utterances. According to Psalms 91:1, we must also understand that the platform that God uses to guide us is the Secret Place . God can lead us anywhere, at any time, and at any point, but where it happens primarily is in the place of prayer.

When you continually listen to this still small voice and obey the promptings, the voice of the Holy Spirit will keep getting louder to you until it becomes very easy for you to pick the voice of God per time.
Let’s talk about Revelation as an instrument of divine guidance. This is where God primarily reveals things to us through visions. There are three types of visions; the first being open Vision – this is when you see while you’re still very conscious. A good illustration of an open vision is the story of Elisha. Whenever the king of Syria was planning to attack the people of Samaria, Elisha would know and see it. He would then contact the king of Israel to inform him ahead of their attack. The king would send armies to confirm, and they would find the enemy laying in ambush.
2 Kings 6:8-12 (NIV): 8. Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, “I will set up my camp in such and such a place.” 9.The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.” 10. So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places. 11. This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?” 12. “None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.”
The preceding verse showed us how something even more intriguing.
Verse 17 (NIV): And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
How was Elisha’s servant able to see all the archangels? He saw them through an open vision. God made him see into the supernatural realm.

Searching within your heart for the inward witness before making a decision, will help to build your reception to the promptings of God.
Revelation could also come as night visions. This is when God gives you specific instructions in your dream. The story of Apostle Paul is an example of this. For God revealed to Ananias in a night vision to go to a street called Straight, where he found Paul and prayed for him to receive his sight and get baptized in the Holy Ghost.
Another form of revelation is also a trance which is different from a dream; it is seeing a flash of a vision without sleeping deeply. This happened to Apostle Peter when God revealed to him in a trance that he should visit Cornelius.
Receiving pictures is also an expression of revelation. This happens when God reveals something to you in a flash, like a quick image. I’ve experienced this countless times, especially when praying.

Before God will talk to you about nations, He must first speak to you about your life.
The Voice of God is another key instrument of divine guidance.
Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
You must seek to be led by the Spirit of God. As a child of God, it is crucial to hear His word every day. Whenever God is not speaking to me, I feel troubled. Whenever I don’t hear His word, I feel bad because it is by His word that we live.
The voice of God can come as an Inner Voice which can also be called the “still small voice”. There are 3 voices that speaks to a man; the voice of the Holy Spirit, the voice of darkness and the voice of the man himself (your own thoughts speaking to you).
The Spirit of God is always speaking in the Spirit realm, when you begin to pray in the Spirit or stir yourself to become spiritually sensitive, your spiritual antenna becomes active and begins to connect to the frequency of the speakings of God in the Spirit, then like a radio, your spirit begins to interpret the speakings of God being received into your heart in form of thoughts and quiet whispers.

We do not live by bread, water, or social gatherings but by every word that proceeds from God’s mouth. So, God must keep directing and giving you divine guidance.
A common issue you could face would be distinguishing your thoughts from what comes from God. For these, you can carefully separate the thoughts the devil is bringing to you at that moment(voice of darkness), and also separate what you are thinking at that moment (the voice of man), when you do this; the only thoughts remaining in your heart should be the voice of God. I encourage you to write down those thoughts of God, it will usually contain scriptures quoted in form of wise counsels gently being whispered to you. When you continually listen to this still small voice and obey the promptings, the voice of the Holy Spirit will keep getting louder to you until it becomes very easy for you to pick the voice of God per time.
Another way God’s voice can come to us is through an inner witness. The inner witness is the primary way God leads all His children in the New Testament. It works in form of God’s Spirit WITNESSING (communicating agreement or disagreement) to your spirit which is then perceived from your heart. It can be likened to a GO-AHEAD SIGNAL in your heart or the Spirit of God using your body feelings to speak to you without you hearing any voice. When you learn to search within your heart for the inward witness before making a decision, you will begin to build your reception to the promptings of God, and with time, you will be able to master it.

When you live a life of trust in God, you won’t worry so much about tomorrow.
Much more, God’s voice can come to us through what is known as Audible Voice. This is hearing the voice of God loudly being spoken to you. It is a supernatural experience which is gradually becoming less common in our days. It is also called the authoritative voice of the Holy Spirit. It is usually not a primary way to hear from God on a daily basis but rather, it comes as a form of cautionary warning from God or to alert you when a delicate season is coming upon you. It is used to communicate the urgency and importance of the words to be received. It could come to announce a new season, a great havoc that must be prevented, a prompt action that needs to be taken, and so on.
It is important to note that as beautiful as it feels to hear the audible voice of God, the bible did not command us to seek for voices. Audible voice of God is not meant to be sought after in prayers and desperation so you don’t enter errors and false spirits. This experience happens as the Spirit Wills.

If you are living a life that is not guided by God, it is the wrong type of living.
Overall we should seek to to live by God’s word always. waiting on his word for divine guidance. In response to Satan’s temptation, Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
We do not live by bread, water, or social gatherings but by every word that proceeds from God’s mouth. So, God must keep directing and giving you divine guidance. Before God will talk to you about nations, He must first speak to you about your life.
You must be directed by God for this you should enroll in the school of divine guidance. If you’re living a life that is not guided by God, honestly, it’s the wrong type of living. I can trace every movement of my life to divine guidance. God must be speaking to you, especially through His voice.

As a child of God, you must lay your own plans aside and start seeking the face of God.
One of the things God will teach you as a student of the secret place is trust. Trust means obeying God’s instructions even when you don’t know what’s next. When you live a life of trust in God, you won’t worry so much about tomorrow. I often tell final-year students, “Don’t make any plans for yourself.” When your parents ask, “What’s your plan?” they might be referring to when you will get a job. But as a child of God, you must pocket your own plans and start seeking the face of God.
Psalm 32:8 says,
“I hear the Lord saying, ‘I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life… I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide.’”
Let God begin to lead you from today!
It is my prayer for you that from today, you will receive divine instructions in the mighty name of Jesus. I decree that God will begin to instruct you! Angels of direction shall visit you. Your guidance angels are activated now. You will begin to hear a voice behind you, leading you in the journey of life. Let the glory of God arise over you in Jesus’ name.
