You may not be called into the five-fold office of a Prophet. Still, you can be prophetic as a child of God. A lot of us still have Prophetic instincts because the Prophetic is working in us. What makes a man a prophet is the combination of having at least two of the three revelational gifts; Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge, Discerning of spirits, plus the gift of prophecy and the utterance gifts; Diverse kinds of tongues and Interpretation of Tongues. We know that Prophecy is actually a direct application of diverse kinds of tongues and Interpretation of Tongues.
In this series, we will examine the lives of Prophets in the Bible. We will see how God directed them prophetically. Get ready for the fire experience!
What makes us achieve great things in life….. is doing something with the instruments and ingredients that God has placed in our lives ,and the grace of God upon our lives.
You must note this; A man without direction will never have focus. One of the reasons we can do many things for God is because of direction. A man without direction will not be able to really maximize his potential. We all come across people that are talented from time to time. But the question is, “Are they maximizing their talent?” A lot of people have talents but they cannot really place it where it’s supposed to be. That’s why Dr. John C. Maxwell will say, “Talent is never enough.” So, it is not talent that qualifies us to do ministry. It’s not talent that qualifies you to achieve great things in life. No! What makes us achieve great things in life is being intentional, it is doing something with the instruments and ingredients that God has placed in our lives and the grace of God upon our lives.
The reason why I’m talking about Divine Guidance is because, at this stage of our lives, we need to be guided. If you lack direction as a child of God, you will suffer a lot of risks, a lot of things will go wrong in your life, not because you are not praying but because you will not be able to focus and do the right things. Praying in the Holy Ghost will never take the place of seeking the face of God. Praying in the Holy Ghost will never take the place of receiving divine guidance from God. Reading the Bible everyday will never equal God guiding your life.
A life without result is a life that is questionable.
Let me make you understand that, if your Bible reading, prayer life and activities as a child of God are not leading you to taking decisions according to what God has planned for your life, then, you are not making progress. What we can call progress is when you are working inside the will of God. I can ask you right now, “Are you working inside the will of God?” How do you check if you are working inside the will of God, there will be RESULT. A life without result is a life that is questionable. It’s very simple. If you are doing it the right way, the result will show. For example, if you are earning #500,000 in a month, we should begin to see some results in your life, for instance, within the space of two years, you should be riding a car, you should be living comfortably because you are earning well. Also, spiritually, if you have been taking in knowledge over a long period of time. We must begin to see the result in your life.
One of the reasons we have to talk about Divine Guidance today is because your lifestyle must be different, you must be involved actively in Kingdom service as a child of God. God wants to make you a flame of fire but if that will happen, you must begin to turn the words you listen to, into a lifestyle.
God wants to make you a flame of fire but if that will happen, you must begin to turn the words you listen to, into a lifestyle.
Let’s look at these Scriptures:
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.”
Psalms 32:8-9 NKJV
“I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!”
Psalms 32:8-9 TPT
The journey of life will remain a puzzle without the guidance and direction of God. When God is not directing your life, your life will go awry. If you don’t allow God to direct your life, life will direct you. If you don’t allow God to lead you, life will lead you. It is possible for life to lead you. Life has been leading us from time to time. For example: After you are done with primary school education, you move to secondary school, then University, NYSC, if you stay in Nigeria, work, marriage, give birth to children, and your children give birth to children. This is the boring lifestyle that life offers us. If you’re not careful and conscious of God’s plan for your life, you’ll find yourself sub-consciously ruminating over these things. You will begin to base your judgement of success and failure on these things.
The journey of life will remain a puzzle without the guidance and direction of God
Life has made us to believe that if you don’t have a car as a man you’re a failure, that if you’re not married, you’re not balanced, that if you don’t have a house then, you’re not a rich man. Who taught us those things? Are they written anywhere in the Bible? No! I challenge you, that your life must be directed by God. Until you get to a point in your life where God begins to direct and guide your actions, you’ll not make it very big in life.
In the above text, God says “I will instruct you”. God wants to instruct you. This is the first thing you must realize— that God is interested in leading you; guiding your path, and you must realize that. My spiritual father released a post some weeks ago, he themed it “Control”. In this post, he spoke about how it is important that man must be controlled at all times. And the way to control a man is by policy. Anywhere a man is not controlled, the place will turn into pieces. For example, In Nigeria, our politicians have no control of policy. He is the alpha and omega of the nation. He can choose to speak when he wants to speak. In a civilized nation, there should be a policy that when there is a state of emergency in the country, within 30 minutes, the President must speak. When there is a policy like this, the President follows it no matter what. Man must be controlled; man must have direction.
Until you get to a point in your life where God begins to direct and guide your actions, you’ll not make it very big in life.
For example: Recently, I lost someone close to me, and I have been busy with taking care of the children she left behind and other burial preparations. In the course of the mourning, I must keep working. Why? Because of policy, control, guidance. Before all these, I already had my month, week, planned out by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I was to minister in a prayer platform, I never knew someone would die. After I confirmed I was going to minister, I received the news of her death. A lot of things started coming to my mind like whether I should dishonor the invitation. But I gained mastery over it and God began to speak to my heart that even in the midst of the mourning, because of orderliness, God’s people must be blessed, I am under authority (Of God), because He is the one that gives the command, and I obey. After we mourned for a while, I had to go back to minister and bless God’s people because I gave them my word. And to the glory of God, it was a powerful ministration.
This is control! Because I’m under an authority, I cannot do as I please. The Bible says “I will instruct you.” One of the most important things that must happen in your life is that you must be instructed by God. The day you start falling out of instruction from God is the day you’ll start failing. The day you stop receiving instructions, or God stops leading you, you’re in trouble. Every man must be led by God. One of my best chapters of the Bible is Romans 8. There’s a part in the chapter that says: “those that are led by the spirit of God are the sons of God.” So, if you’re not led by the spirit of God, if it is not God that is directing and guiding you, you don’t belong to God.
The day you start falling out of instruction from God is the day you’ll start failing.
One of the yardsticks of knowing that you belong to God, you’re of the kingdom, and God is King over your life, is that you receive instructions from God. God doesn’t just want to be your savior, protector, helper, source of provision. More than these, He wants to be your Lord, your King. A King must be worshiped; a Lord must be obeyed. A Lord gives decree, order, direction. So, God must direct your life. You must get to a stage in your life where you’ll receive instructions from God, where when God doesn’t move, you don’t move. If as Child of God, God is not leading you before you make EVERY major decision in your life, including your marriage, you don’t belong to God.
This is just the introductory part of the series and we trust you were blessed. In the other episodes, we will dive deeper into other aspects of Divine Guidance. God bless you. Anticipate the next episode, till then stay lighted.
