The second episode is here already! we shall continue from where we stopped in the last episode. In the journey of The Lord Jesus while on earth, He had a popular series of teachings tagged “sermon on the mount”. This is the teaching where He discussed very vital issues that pertains to the body of Christ which therefore forms basics of the foundational ordinances and doctrines of the Church of Christ. One of the teachings in this series focused directly on the concept of motive. Jesus gave deep insights into how the concept of motive checks can deny man the blessings meant for the good deeds done all because it was done with the wrong motive. Jesus gave a direct instruction in the first verse of Matthew 6, starting with the relationship between giving and motive. As adorable and life-saving giving money or good gifts out to God and others may look, when it is done with the wrong motive; it ends up being unacceptable by God and that is the end of it!

When you give to others secretly, God is bound to repay you openly in multiples fold. In this Kingdom, how you do what you did is more important than the act itself. God is more interested in the process that led to you getting that ground-breaking result for Him! Of course, men search for results and are quick to celebrate results. God on the other hand is not moved by the result itself but rather, the process, discipline, spiritual principles and all that you sacrificed in achieving that result. One of the reasons being that the mystery of process makes it possible to be able to achieve that result a million times more, once the process can be mastered. So, what process brought you here?
God is more interested in the process that led to you getting that ground-breaking result for Him!

Did you just rough it through or you truly followed the Lord obediently and patiently till you arrived in His will for your life? it is very possible to arrive at where God is taking you even before Him! I mean, you can fasten the process and journey just like Ahimaaz the messenger of Joab did in the ancient times of Israel. Ahimaaz took the shortcut though bearing the less-important and unrewarding message while the real messenger that was sent with the full message to King David was careful to go through the normal route. As expected, the Cushite bearing the right message got to the city later than the “sharp-sharp messenger”! but as always, the patient dog always eat the fattest bone, Ahimaaz was asked to step aside when King David realized his message was faulty and lacked sense of meaning and worthiness. The right messenger then came up to the scene and passed the message accurately in a simple and wise way, the King got the message clearly without stress! A lot of believers today are walking like Ahimaaz the wrong messenger, we know you were called by God, but is God ready to launch you out to the world yet? He may have called you, but you must wait until you become a sent messenger before you go forth!

Still on Jesus’ message on motive during the sermon on the Mount, He stressed the reason why the giving lifestyle of believers must be secretive. Why did Jesus insist on our giving being secretive? He did so because the person we are obeying and impressing has standards and conducts. Not everything gets God’s attention. He is a God of principles! You cannot do things in your own way and expect God to be smiling and giggling at you from heaven! Never! Not Even His blessings will fall on you from heaven. Why? Your ways are not His ways. So, what is God’s standard on giving? God desires that our act of giving must be kept secretive and be not known to all. When we do that obediently, He sees what we do to others in the secret and in return, He rewards us openly in the sight of everyone! To act otherwise will be unwise and total disobedience. There is no reward for any act of giving done outside God’s will for giving. You can as well believe you have gotten your reward by showing everyone the giving you do to others.
Not everything gets God’s attention. He is a God of principles! You cannot do things in your own way and expect God to be smiling and giggling at you from heaven!

There is a way hypocrites do things and you know it is all about the talking. Whatever that is done with the motive of attracting the attention of men to yourself is unworthy of God’s attention and goodwill. It does not count before God! Now, looking at the situation from this angle, we can conclude that men truly love to do things that does not really count to God then! Why? Almost all the time, people go public and proud about the good things they do to others without any glory left for God to take! Our God is a jealous God, He will not share His Glory with any man! Receiving the honour and glory because of the giving you did is a stain on the personality of God! if He will reward you, then you must strive not to be commended by men but rather by God Himself. The next time you are about to give anything out, remember to take the motive check!
Whatever that is done with the motive of attracting the attention of men to yourself is unworthy of God’s attention and goodwill. It does not count before God!
